About
The Voice of the Okun Nation
OkunPeople is the premier magazine covering the Okun area of Kogi State, Nigeria — the five Local Government Areas of Yagba East, Yagba West, Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu and Mopamuro. First published on March 29, 1997, the magazine has, for nearly three decades, served as a faithful chronicler of the people, politics, culture and aspirations of Okunland.
Our Mission
To be a catalyst for rural development by giving the Okun people a credible, independent platform to tell their own story — to celebrate achievements, hold leaders accountable, document heritage and amplify voices that mainstream media often overlook.
What We Cover
- Politics & Governance — legislative power, rotation politics, succession and the road to 2027.
- Community & Development — rural infrastructure, education, agriculture and grassroots progress.
- Culture & Heritage — the Okun identity, language, festivals and traditions.
- Tributes & Lifestyle — honouring icons, profiling changemakers and reflecting everyday Okun life.
Our Promise
Honest reporting. Original perspectives. Stories that matter to Okun sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora. Each monthly edition — and our spontaneous editorials in between — is curated to inform, inspire and unite.
"A people without a voice are a people without a future. OkunPeople exists so that the Okun voice is never silent."
